Remember Your Unique Pet
With A Custom Pet Urn

Why choose a custom pet urn from Spirit Remains?

As pet lovers, we share a special bond with our pets, one that continues when only the spirit remains.  It seems fitting that we should remember them in the same manner that we cared for them in life, which is why Spirit Remains was created.  Custom pet urns from Spirit Remains are for pet lovers who want a one of a kind remembrance for their one of a kind pet.  Pet urns from Spirit Remains are not manufactured on an assembly line in a factory.  They are unique and made with love.  It may sound hokey and corny, but it's true.  The first dog urn was made out of love for a dog, and the desire to remember her in keeping with her spirit in life; and Spirit Remains was started to try to provide pet urn memorials for other pet lovers.

The idea to create custom pet urns evolved after the death of my yellow Lab, Suzie, in August of '05.  Her ashes came from the vet in a very nice, black, wooden urn that had a tassel on the top.  I kept the urn in a room out of sight, but that didn't seem right.  I decided to make a dog urn for her ashes that was more uplifting and more about the way I wanted to remember her.  The black box didn't reflect Suzie's spirit.  Something whimsical and light-hearted was needed. A dog urn with different colors on the box and "tennis balls" on the sides (Suzie liked playing fetch) was just the ticket. An autumn tree stands behind her, because she liked being outside.  She had lots of heart, so glittering hearts were added around her.  Small "posts" (dowels) raise the urn, which signifies she is no longer grounded on earth.  There are only three posts to symbolize something is missing or not balanced without her.  Inside the urn are her ashes encased in fabric with dog images on it.  And her picture is in a frame inside the lid with her dog tag.

Making Suzie's urn was a bittersweet endeavor, but the creative process helped me work through my grief.  Seeing it reminds me of her love of life, her playful nature, and the bond we shared. I thought that other pet lovers might appreciate something similar.  And since Spirit Remains started, several of the pet owners I've worked with on custom urns have told me that the process of designing the urn helped them with their grief.  Their energies were channeled into focusing on happy memories of their pets instead of their deaths.

We also make cat urns, duck urnsrabbit urns, and ferret urns in the same spirit as the dog urns.  Even if there are no ashes, the custom pet urn makes a nice keepsake and small tribute to man's and woman's best friend, whatever species it may be.

Currently, several pet urns are in stock, found on the pet urns page, and custom pet urns are also available with or without a music box. If you want to purchase a pet urn for someone else we also offer the option of a gift certificate (with or without a music box) found at the bottom of the pet urns page. We are also now offering the Spirit Remains Rainbow Bridge Urn as seen on this page. To order a custom Rainbow Bridge Urn, go to the pet urns page and look for the Rainbow Bridge Custom Urn image near the bottom of the page.
